Sweet and Sour Chicken & Pork Recipes

Both of these are family favourites. They were on the weekly rotation. I don't have them near as much because meat is expensive.

Sweet & Sour Chicken

We serve it with rice and green beans in cheese sauce. Generally this recipe is good for 4 chicken breasts but I prefer to double the sauce so I can put some on my rice.
  • Vinegar 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar, lightly packed 1/4 cup
  • Honey 2 tbsp
  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp
  • Ketchup 1 tbsp
  • chicken breasts
Cut up chicken and brown in a buttered pan.
In a bowl mix ingredients together.
When chicken is browned, turn down the heat and pour in the sauce. Let simmer covered for 10+ minutes.

The orginal recipe calls for cider vinegar but we never have that so we've grown accustomed to not using it.

Sweet & Sour Pork Chops

Again, I like to double the sauce but it's good for 4 chops. It's served with rice (we like rice) and peas.
  • Brown sugar 4 tbsp
  • Vinegar 3 tbsp
  • Pepper 1/8 tsp
  • Ketchup 1/4 cup
  • Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp
  • pork chops
Brown pork chops.
Mix ingredients in a bowl.
When chops are done, lower heat and add sauce. Simmer covered for 10+ minutes.

These are both freezer meals I included in my brother's Christmas gift. If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 6-8 hours or high 3-4.
